As someone committed to using beauty products made from local organic ingredients that nourish the skin in a low-key, toxin-free, holistic way, California-based True Nature Botanicals is a noteworthy discovery. Better still, its products are specifically formulated for ageing skin. As a result, Pacific Everyday Sheer Coverage ($58 for 60ml) is proving to be a serious weapon in my healthy skin arsenal.
This lightweight cream is perfect for weekend use (unlike the thicker, matte formulations more suitable for formal occasions). Chief among its ingredients is a pearl powder that, I swear, evens out my skin tone and reduces the depth of my wrinkles, while creating an ever-so-slightly illuminating, lustrous effect. At the same time non-nano zinc oxide protects against the full UV spectrum (SPF 20) and damaging free radicals. Having used this tinted moisturiser for several months now, my skin looks brighter and my dark under-eye circles look somewhat less pronounced, something I put down to the oat beta glucans – anti-ageing polysaccharides that moisturise deep below the skin’s surface.
I have also been dabbling in a number of other True Nature Botanicals products, including its luxurious Face Oil ($110 for 30ml) and the miraculous Pacific Mist ($48 for 120ml, pictured), a sea-kelp and marine-extract spritz that adds a dewy finish to my ageing visage throughout the day. All the concoctions are blessedly fragrance free, or have just the faintest hints of whatever ingredients – vetiver, citrus fruits, rose – that have been used in their production.
