To celebrate the first birthday of Shoe Heaven at Harrods, the department store has invited 20 footwear designers – including Gucci, Prada and Tod’s – to step forward with a selection of limited-edition luxury sneakers and whimsical designs.
The playful Catch Me If You Can collection hits the ground running with designs that run the gamut of fashionable style. Givenchy brings a luxe edge to skater-style slip-ons (£640, edition of 24, second picture) with python skin, Jimmy Choo’s look-twice textured white low tops (£1,095, edition of 24, third picture) keep things nonchalantly cool, while Nicholas Kirkwood delivers his usual flourish to the floor with a pair of truly outré navy and black platform high tops (£1,500, edition of 15), complete with furry pompoms. Giuseppe Zanotti adds to the drama with furry black wedge-heeled creations (£1,400, edition of 30) and Dolce & Gabbana joins the embellished fray with red and black trainers (£925, editions of 30, first picture) sporting crystals and lace. Somewhat less theatrical, though no less stylish, are Balenciaga’s grey and red leather trainers (£405, edition of 100, fourth picture), which have an angular, bauhaus feel.
Catch them while you can – they’re unlikely to hang around long.
