Louis Vuitton, Céline and Chanel are just three of the 50-plus fashion brands that have crafted one-off pieces for a special all-white capsule collection launching on Monday January 26. Le Bon Marché in Paris and The Webster in Miami Beach will stock these winter-white pieces, which encompass menswear and womenswear, accessories and interiors. The collection is an über-luxe take on Le Bon Marché’s annual Le Mois du Blanc, which was started in 1873 by the store’s founder Aristide Boucicault and presents customers with limited-edition white items.
As Paris’s oldest department store, Le Bon Marché might seem an unlikely choice of partner for avant-garde concept store The Webster, which opened its beachfront doors six years ago. But illumination lies with the South Beach boutique’s Parisian-born CEO and co-founder Laure Heriard Dubreuil, who cites this institution as the store that “made me discover fashion”. She sees the collaboration as a “match made in heaven”.
Star wardrobe pieces in the collection include Victoria Beckham’s simple yet sexy wool/silk dress (€1,690, second picture), Erdem’s elegant crocheted two-piece outfit (top, €630, skirt, €980, third picture), a chic belted ensemble from Bouchra Jarrar (jacket, €1,950, trousers, €780, fourth picture) and a bow-fronted Balenciaga gown, recreated in white especially for the collection (€2,950).
As for accessories, a splendid array of iconic handbags has been reinterpreted in icy white. Chanel’s calfskin Boy handbag (€4,900, first picture) is finished with ivory rabbit fur, while Dior has stayed true to the classic Mini Dior square shape, but added white lambskin for extra opulence (€2,300). Elsewhere, Phoebe Philo’s designs for Céline remain as sleek as ever, her “flat sac” (€1,500, fifth picture) recreated in pristine, bright white.
“I feel blessed to have so many amazing fashion houses involved in this project,” says Heriard Dubreuil. Snow may not be guaranteed, but the style forecast is most definitely white hot.
