Fendi’s playful approach to customisation has reaped significant rewards over the past few years, lending itself to made-to-order bags and accessories such as the Kan I bag and furry charms. It’s one of a handful of labels that led the way for other luxury houses to regularly update and refresh bestselling pieces. The brand’s latest initiative is based around a sporty catwalk hit, the Colibrì sandal, which was launched by creative director of accessories and menswear Silvia Venturini-Fendi in spring 2018 and will now be available in myriad made-to-order styles (from £590).
The shoes – whose name is taken from the Spanish word for hummingbird, alluding to the design’s pointy toe and super-lightweight design – have a moulded footbed and neoprene padding on the straps, adding to the comfort factor.
There are seven toe options, including animal-print calfskin, a mesh in the classic house logo, beige or black satin, as well as a crystal-embroidered option. There will be two heel heights (55mm and 85mm) in a range of styles, including glossy gold or black patent leather, animal-print calf or a beautiful handwoven rattan. Clients can also choose the colourways for the design’s signature sporty straps.
