It was only about 10 months ago that Habitas opened on the beach in Tulum, Mexico’s hippy-chic, latter-day Ibiza – a smattering of glammed-up canvas huts, a restaurant, a pavilion and a very lofty aspiration to be a place where deeper human connections are made.

Cut to the present, and the group is busy with pop-up events, further hotel expansion (Namibia, Malibu and the Bahamas are being floated) – and “activating” two new clubhouses in New York and Venice, California, which will be home to the 250 founding members of the Habitas global community, who will have access to all of the above. It’s a new kind of travel tribe, applications to which are being accepted now.
