A stylish boutique hotel opens in Toronto

A US boutique hotel brand branches out into Toronto

Toronto is a city that suffers no shortage of attractions, not least Frank Gehry’s (somewhat controversial) extension to the Art Gallery of Ontario (www.ago.net), where those in town before May 23 should make sure to catch This You Call Civilization?, a retrospective of the Kenyan artist Wangechi Mutu.

There’s also a new outpost of one of the US’s most stylish boutique hotel brands. Thompson Toronto (www.thompsonhotels.com; from $250) has two USPs: on the roof, a swimming pool and terrace bar; and in the restaurant, Scott Conant, the chef behind New York’s eternally packed and always delicious Scarpetta.
