John Lobb’s new range of smart sturdy boots

The label’s new creative director launches her first full collection

Farmer’s son John Lobb left Cornwall for London in 1849 with almost nothing but his handmade boots, and now the brand’s new creative director, Paula Gerbase, has taken sturdy boots as the theme for her first full collection. My favourite is Combe (£1,140), a chestnut-brown or inky-blue single-buckle boot with storm-welt double sole. Also worth noting is the Fowey single-eyelet calfskin boot (£1,500), with Lobb’s signature whole-cut wraparound pattern; the Grove two-eyelet graphite or navy suede boot (£860) with welted rubber October sole; and the distinguished Oake (£1,240), with lighter sole, double buckle and seamless suede back with contrast calf vamp.
