Favourbrook’s grand new London flagship

Velvet smoking jackets and 800 varieties of waistcoat steal the scene

l Ever since Favourbrook was founded by a young Oliver Spencer after he came across “seconds” rolls from the Stephen Walters silk mill, it has kept a keen focus on the fabrics for its smart, exuberant clothing. This is much in evidence at the brand’s new flagship, in a grand Edwin Lutyens building on Pall Mall, which has the feel of a country home. Stealing the show are smoking jackets, including the Grosvenor in my preferred olive velvet (£690) complete with frogging fastening, as well as ornate Faraday floral brocade dinner jackets (from £990). And though there are dozens of look-at-me waistcoats among the 800 available, I like the one in black duchesse satin with shawl collar (£240).
