“You can picnic anywhere. On a train, on your balcony or in Central Park,” says Wendy Weston, founder of Perfect Picnic and a professional “picnic organiser”. Weston puts together foodie picnic boxes and also all-in “experiences” that can be set up in a number of scenic locations across New York City. Her latest offering is the Social Distance Picnic Party ($1,000), which includes blankets, pillows and parasols alongside sandwiches, cheese platters, drinks and desserts – with a reminder for guests “to stay two baguettes apart”. Customers can also purchase a Picnic with a Purpose; $10 will send lunch to a local health worker.
To host your own socially distant get-together, here’s the kit for sitting comfortably, dining stylishly – and, most importantly, keeping the rosé cool.
