Pierre Hermé’s summer ice creams

A refreshing respite from hot London days

With London finally in the full flush of summer, master pâtissier Pierre Hermé has concocted a delectable relief from the heat.

His Monmouth Street shop will be serving limited-edition ice creams and sorbets (£6.50 for a 235ml pot) until Sunday August 30, in an array of tantalising flavours.

Refreshing picks include rose petal and orange blossom ice creams complemented by candied ginger; lime and raspberry sorbets with the unusual addition of Espelette pepper; GlaceMiléna (pictured), which pairs fresh mint ice cream with a red berry sorbet; and Sorbet Ispahan, a mixture of lychee and rose with raspberry.

Fans of Hermé’s macarons will enjoy the Glace au Macaron Infiniment Vanille – vanilla ice cream with vanilla almond paste and vanilla macaron biscuits – but chocoholics might prefer the Glace Infiniment Chocolat: bitter chocolate ice cream, nougatine with cocoa nibs, fleur de sel and Sarawak pepper.
