Celebrate at the city’s chicest soirée – The Lanesborough
London’s most sophisticated house party returns to thrill revellers on December 31 in collaboration with Moët & Chandon. The hotel will be transformed for a fun-filled odyssey – beginning in the opulent Belgravia Ballroom, which will become a Latin-style haven filled with the sounds of reggaeton rhythms, where rum-champagne cocktails and canapés await. Head to the Céleste Dining Room for a nightclub vibe, with well-known DJs spinning club classics as you hit the dancefloor. Cocktail lovers can sample creative libations in the Library Bar, while cigar connoisseurs will find sanctuary in the Garden Room – home to The Lanesborough’s dedicated cigar lounge. Discover a Lebanese lair in the “former” St George’s Room – a place to sip classic cocktails with eastern hints and savour Arabic bites – and for full-on indulgence (before the New Year detox begins), step into The Great Hall for fine cuvées (from Moët & Chandon to Dom Pérignon) and delicacies such as caviar. Prices start from £275 from Clos19 for a single ticket, including two 20cl bottles of champagne, a selection of canapés made by The Lanesborough’s executive chef Steeven Gilles, and access to the lower and ground floors. The Lanesborough, Hyde Park Corner, London SW1. For tickets and information, go to clos19.com.
Party with Birkin – Decimo at The Standard
Celebrate the New Year with singer and fashion icon Jane Birkin, who will take to the stage at the hotel’s Decimo restaurant for an intimate performance with a live band. Chef Peter Sanchez-Iglesias, meanwhile, has prepared a multi-course set menu mixing Spanish and Mexican cuisine to mark the end of 2019 in style. At midnight, head to the 11th-floor rooftop for views of London’s dazzling fireworks display with a glass of champagne in hand. Tickets start at £165 per person (including the set menu, rooftop access to watch the pyrotechnic show and a glass of bubbly for the countdown), while those who wish to host a “suite sleepover private party” can book a room on the 8th or 9th floor for the occasion – with the option to add a personal bartender in corner suites. Room rates start at £1,300 (which includes £500 to spend on food and drink) for each guest and five of their friends. Larger gatherings can also be accommodated. The Standard, 10 Argyle Street, London WC1. Tickets for the Birkin event are available at eventbrite.co.uk and for the sleepover at standardhotels.com.
