Morocco meets Paris at the Plaza Athénée hotel

Marrakech’s Le Marocain chef brings a taste of Morocco to the Parisian hotel for a fabulous week of fusion cuisine

November can be a gloomy month in Paris, but the Hôtel Plaza Athénée aims to brighten guests’ day with a touch of Moroccan pizzazz. From November 12 to 16, the Relais Plaza – the quintessential Parisian brasserie – will welcome Monsieur Adil Sadiq, deputy director of Le Marocain restaurant at the Mamounia Palace in Marrakech, along with its chef, Rachid Agouray.

There will be live Moroccan music during La Mamounia week, and a menu including contemporary interpretations of classic dishes created especially for the occasion by Agouray with chef Philippe Marc of the Relais Plaza. The choice of dishes will change daily, and a set menu (for lunch and dinner) is priced from €74.

Entrées include salad of marinated langoustines with mint-smoked aubergines; pastilla of two salmon; or pigeon pastilla. For the main courses, there is sea bass stuffed with dates; chicken tagine with olives and crystalised lemons; and Couscous Royal with kefka and merguez. To finish, guests can select desserts of fig m’hencha with cinnamon ice cream; strawberry tagine with ginger and lemon sorbet; salad of oranges with cinnamon granita; or Moroccan pastries, accompanied by mint tea or local wines.
