Bespoke behind-the-scenes tours of Scotland’s great distilleries

Luxe travel with tastings from Whisky Co

When it comes to gourmet travel, Scotland has it all – wonderful food, historic hotels and more than 100 distilleries in a multitude of breathtaking locations. Yet up until now, there has been a surprising lack of provision for whisky lovers wanting to tour the great distilleries in style.

The company hoping to change this is Whisky Co, a new concierge service specialising in tailormade whisky experiences. Whether you are a novice planning your first distillery visit, or a connoisseur in search of a week-long holiday that includes fishing in the environs of Aberfeldy, a Michelin-starred whisky dinner at Gleneagles and a helicopter tour of Islay, Whisky Co will create a bespoke itinerary to suit your requirements, as well as organising everything from travel and accommodation to tastings.

The thing that really sets this company apart, though, is the insider knowledge of founder Kirsty MacGeoch, a former whisky PR who spent years booking VIP trips for some of Scotland’s most famous distilleries (as well as a stint at London PR agency Quintessentially & Co) before launching her new venture this summer. Thanks to her unrivalled contacts book, clients can enjoy the sort of behind-the-scenes access rarely offered to the general public, with private distillery tours, blending masterclasses and the chance to bottle one’s own Balvenie straight from the cask just some of the unique experiences that Whisky Co can provide. Due to the bespoke nature of the trips, all prices are available on request.

“I wanted to share my knowledge of Scotch and Scotland with the world to ensure visitors get the best out of what our country and its wonderful whisky have to offer,” says MacGeoch, who also makes trip recommendations and can provide an itinerary-only service.
