A Christmas auction to save the rainforests

A plethora of gift ideas – and it’s all in a very worthy cause

The time for panic-buying presents might not be yet be upon us, but for the well organised (or for those who just fancy indulging in some festive philanthropy for themselves) a neat seasonal solution could be The Rainforest Foundation UK’s 12 Days of Christmas auction, which starts today, as each lot is guaranteed to be shipped by December 7.

More than 200 auction lots will be up for grabs, including a selection of new-season stocking fillers from companies such as Valentino (first picture, donated by Stylebop.com), Karen Walker, John Galliano (second picture) and Mulberry, as well as signed artworks by paper-cut artist Rob Ryan and English street artist Paul Insect (who previously worked alongside Banksy at the London Cans Festival in 2008).

All proceeds from the auction – which last year totalled more than £8,000 – will help fund The Rainforest Foundation UK in Africa, Asia and South America, promoting the establishment of community rights over rainforest lands, with the aim of tackling the root of problems related to deforestation and climate change.
