Who better to finesse denim and lift the season than Marion Cotillard and Keira Knightley’s gown designer of choice? Friday February 27 sees the launch of Giambattista Valli’s collaboration with premium denim specialist 7 For All Mankind on a limited-edition capsule collection available at the LA brand’s UK flagship on Regent Street.
The jeans have a “strong identity”, says Valli; skinnies are given a contemporary twist with waist cinching and sexy hues – from wicked red to boudoir pink (£275, first picture) – or graphic animal motifs (£300, second picture). Leopard print can also be found on short dresses (£450) in a theme reminiscent of Valli’s 2013 catwalk. These will be accompanied by eclectic-print tops, shorts, dresses and jackets; the total numbers just 200 pieces.
The collaboration is the latest move by Valli to expand his fashion reach, following the debut of his second label, Giamba, which showed in Milan last September and is designed for a playful “Valli” girl. 7 For All Mankind was a “natural choice” to pair with, says Valli, because of the immaculate fit of its “denim canvases”.
This marriage of fantastical couture creativity and classic wardrobe staples is a chic stroke of jean-ius.
