St Moritz has never exactly been lacking in the style stakes, but now Europe’s chicest alpine destination (and the world’s oldest winter sports resort) has just upped its fashion-ante with the launch of a brand new Jimmy Choo boutique. In contrast to last month’s launch (the brand’s first standalone men’s store, in London’s Burlington Arcade, designed as a “homage to the 1960s Mayfair playboy”), the boudoir-esque boutique is outfitted in mirrored tables, lush tufted seating and crystal-drop chandeliers, and houses the entire women’s collection of shoes, handbags, accessories and sunglasses.
To celebrate the launch, the store will be stocking a specially created 17-piece St Moritz capsule collection, designed to keep ski bunnies snug on the slopes with sumptuous fox-fur, soft leathers and cosy shearling. Highlights include Leah (first picture; SFr2,875, about £1,979), a black fox-fur bag with a woven cross-body strap, deerskin trim and stirrup hardware; an equally covetable matching slouchy hobo version (Lily, about £2,750); and Dicey (second picture; about £1,807), a decidedly après-ski statement fur high-heeled boot.
The collection is available in a limited quantity, exclusively at the St Moritz store, but as compensation for anyone staying closer to home this Christmas, Grove (about £430), a sporty moon boot, trimmed in black or white shearing or leopard-printed fur, will also be available to purchase online.
