In Paris’ first arrondissement, spanning the Seine between the Right and Left Banks, sits Pont Neuf, the city’s oldest bridge. Just across from Louis Vuitton’s headquarters, the bridge has long been a source of inspiration for the house, and this week sees the launch of a new shoulder bag named in honour of the landmark: the LV Pont 9.
Designed by Nicolas Ghesquière, artistic director of women’s collections, the mid-size calfskin shoulder bag (£2,680) has a rounded shape and features a 1930s archive logo, reinterpreted by Ghesquière, on the central buckle and strap. It also has two internal compartments and pockets, as well as a magnetic closure inspired by the house’s monogram flower. Three colourways of the bag – including black, cream and a summer gold – drop on 29 May, while styles in muted mid-blue and rose-pink leather will join the collection on 26 June.
