Among the many ankle boots on the market, hardworking, go-anywhere styles are surprisingly difficult to find. Boots that can take you from A to B and back again without causing aches and pains; boots that can be pulled on in the morning in a caffeine-deprived stupor, yet still look presentable tucked under a dinner table at an evening event. London-based brand Legres – which launched last year and is designed by an anonymous trio – seems particularly adept in this niche: its collection of lace-up boots and sleek biker styles hits the sweet spot between polished and practical. Other designs, from the likes of Chloé or Armani, are similarly fetching and, most importantly, are fit for purpose too.
