Gold stars in the new metallic make-up

Glitter-dusted skin and molten eyelashes aren’t just for awards season, says Baya Simons

First came the glitter-flecked cheeks and eyes of HBO’s Euphoria. Then the spring catwalks: amped-up gold lashes at Valentino, sharp-winged silver shadow at Balmain, and a sultry copper shimmer at Tom Ford. Now metallic eyes have hit the red carpet, with Lucy Boynton’s Golden Globes look – bronze with silver embellishments and graphic black liner – and Florence Pugh’s wash of silver at the Critics’ Choice Awards. Try Chantecaille’s Mermaid Eye Color in Triton for softly smoky silver lids, Victoria Beckham’s new Satin Kajal liner in bronze for a subtle shimmer, Tom Ford’s creamy Emotionproof shadow in coppery Gigolo for warmth, or Pat McGrath Labs’ Golden Opulence palette of glittering yellow-gold, bronze-tinted rose-gold and silvery-pink shadows.
