Ruth Chapman, Matchesfashion.com co-founder I gave my husband Tom a Christian Astuguevieille sculpture, a glossy, papier-mâché female figure, almost tribal in shape and about a metre tall, that I bought from Connolly. I love that Isabel Ettedgui is setting these beautiful pieces of art against masculine, driving-orientated fashion. From £3,800; 4 Clifford St, London W1 (020-7952 6708; connollyengland.com).
Jewellery designer Delfina Delettrez “I sent a dear friend on a meditation course, consisting of four days of classes and several months of private sessions. I hope it’s a gift that lasts a lifetime.” Centro di Meditazione Trascendentale, Viale Angelico 249, 00195 Rome (+3907-4495 6032; meditazionetrascendentale.it).
Olivia Chantecaille, creative director of Chantecaille My father is very sporty, so I bought a Cannondale Scalpel-Si Carbon 3 bicycle so he can easily get around East Hampton to do errands and go to the gym. From $5,330; cannondale.com.
Dean Gomilsek-Cole, head of design at Turnbull & Asser I gave a photograph by Chrystel Lebas from a series called Blue Hour, to my wife Marie. We saw it in The Photographers’ Gallery and were mesmerised by it. It depicts a field of flowers in a forest, shot with a long exposure, at that strange time between night and day. It’s beautiful and slightly spooky. 16-18 Ramillies St, London W1 (020-7087 9300; thephotographersgallery.org.uk).
Product designer Bodo Sperlin One of Loewe’s Bild 9 floorstanding televisions in graphite-grey was a gift to a good friend who needed a new TV for his architect-designed flat. No other television would have been stylish enough. From £4,990; loewe.tv.
Architect and designer Thierry Despont I gave a pair of large linden trees to Barbara, the woman I love and share my life with. We planted them in our garden in the Hamptons; they frame the view from our bedroom window.
Nicolas Roche, creative director of Roche Bobois I found an original Ozoo desk designed by the French architect Marc Berthier on LeBonCoin.fr. It’s made from moulded plastic, with little sections for pens and books. I gave it to my father, François, as a tribute to the wonderful and successful collection he developed with Berthier in 1967 – one of the first collections of plastic furniture available to the public. Similar available at pamono.co.uk.
Creative director Alex Eagle I bought a leather Smythson album for my grandma and put in photos of her ancestors, then of my Mum, me and my cousins. It was a compendium of a lifetime’s achievements – a cross-section of memories, holidays and happiness. She loved it, but really it was a gift to all of us too. £375; smythson.com.
Womenswear designer Erdem I recently gave a stunning wicker Basket chair by Nanna Ditzel, which I bought from Sigmar on King’s Road. Ditzel was a Danish furniture designer, and this piece is typical of her elegant style. 263 King’s Rd, London SW3 (020-7751 5801; sigmarlondon.com).
