Since Uniform Wares’ debut in 2009, the British watchmaker has produced elegantly pared-back and beautifully crafted timepieces. And as of last month, every watch in its C and M Line collections is Swiss-made – so to celebrate this new international manufacturing partnership, it has relaunched its e-store.
Central to the marque is precision quartz engineering and intelligent functionality, so high specs such as high-calibre Ronda or ETA premium quartz movements, plus applied batons, scratch-resistant sapphire glass and clear, anti-reflective coatings are signature components. Some models, such as the M42 (M42SKK-01 with black-shell cordovan leather strap, £710) also have triple register chronographs and water-resistance.
But Uniform Wares also understands that a watch must also be an object of beauty. Designed at the company’s London headquarters, these are minimal, contemporary timepieces. The C-Line pieces have a classic silhouette (C41/SRG-01 with black DLC Milanese mesh strap, £980), while the M-Line range is a little more modern and edgy (M37/PSI-01 with black shell cordovan leather strap, £270).
And however virtual an experience Uniform Wares may be, the site still offers a dash of old-fashioned personal service. Customers can choose their own strap (the selection ranges from Italian nitrile rubber to precision Milanese mesh, via a range of luxurious skins, such as the C41/SGR-01 with grey Louisiana alligator strap, £980) – and when they open the custom-made dust bag the watch is delivered in, they discover their new wristwear set to the correct time.
