Two super-stylish Rolex re-releases have caught my attention – both for their designs and their nicknames. The GMT Master II (£10,350) with black/brown ceramic bezel and steel/Everose-gold case and bracelet has a confident 1970s sporty look. Dubbed the “Root Beer” after its colour scheme, it originally gained cachet because it was worn by Clint Eastwood – and made as a special order. I’ve also been admiring the crisp, clean style of the new Datejust 41 (£6,900) with its slate dial, white‑gold fluted bezel and black Roman numerals edged in luminous green, which gave rise to the moniker “The Wimbledon” when they originally featured on the Datejust II. I’d like to see it paired with a vibrant-green custom Nato webbing strap. That would be a style ace.
