Marine ancestry in a modern age

When explorers roamed the oceans, the torpilleur was the captain’s watch: a pocket chronometer that was the mark of his rank both onshore and off. Today’s urban explorers prefer to captain their own destiny. For them, we present our new Marine Torpilleur

The new Marine Torpilleur is designed without compromise: the same Ulysse Nardin UN-118 movement, unique silicium technology and power reserve you’ll find in our iconic Marine Chronometer, but a little lighter, a little thinner and resolutely modern. It’s designed for the city, but its heart – like that of every true adventurer – belongs to the sea.

Inspired by the sea. Shaped by time

Ever since Ulysse Nardin was founded more than two centuries ago, our history has been entwined with the expectations, experiences and spirit of those who travel and navigate the seas. That history led to the creation of our iconic Marine Chronometer, our ultimate expression of technical performance and beautiful design, which rules the waves with an unsurpassed nautical spirit. Just as the original torpilleur allowed the captains of old to carry a ship’s chronometer in their pocket, our new Marine Torpilleur is a smaller version of the iconic Ulysse Nardin Marine Chronometer designed for a less formal age. With its elegant, modern design, it could be said that this new watch is the Platonic ideal of Ulysse Nardin’s belief in the power of form working in perfect harmony with function to create a truly beautiful, truly purposeful watch.

Finally, three designs were chosen to reflect three very different urban environments: three successful visions of the present and the future that embody the modern spirit. Each has its individual spirit, but each has a common goal: to seize opportunities and make more of every moment… as time moves relentlessly onward.

“Every adventurer must seek their own path. Choose their own destination. Find where they belong, whatever seas they must cross or the challenges they must face to get there. Be bold. Be brave. But above all, be yourself.”

Perpetually in motion. Always of its time

“A shining steel and glass city of a thousand towers, a million lights. Pushing ever upwards, moving ever onwards. Facing the future without ever looking back. A city of confidence, of bravery. Where fortune only ever favours the bold, and success is there for the taking. This is my city. This is my future. This is where I belong.”

A sign of refinement, made resolutely modern

“The grand old dame. Often bruised, sometimes bloodied. But never beaten. A city of golden treasures, of kings, queens and rascals – where anyone who’s anyone knows everyone. Old money meets new, danger meets excitement meets tradition meets modernity. And somehow it just works. This is where I want to be. Where I can be me.”

Bold. Brilliant. Beautiful

“Where east meets west, where deals are done, goods are traded… and secrets are kept. A city of bold contrasts, where the world meets its match, everything can happen and usually does. Modernity collides with antiquity to make something entirely new. This is where my heart beats fastest. This is my home.”
