The Datça peninsula, in the southwest of Turkey, has cast its spell over wanderers since time immemorial (or at least since about the third millennium BC, when the Carians pitched up and decided to stay awhile). Lying west of busy Marmaris and south of gilded Bodrum, with densely wooded, often empty hills shearing out of cerulean coves, it’s ideal private charter territory, especially in May and June. Red Savannah(www.redsavannah.com) has added several prime gulets that ply the Datça’s waters to its select portfolio lately, from two-cabin gems to Euphoria (from €1,500 per night), an 88ft beauty that sleeps eight and is a recent arrival on the market. She’ll appeal to the old-school sailor, with her gleaming burl-wood panelling, ample deck space and ace chef (long employed by Euphoria’s owners).
