A New York hotel with an impressive address

The ballet is only a cab ride away from this Wall Street hotel

A new opening this month in Manhattan is Andaz Wall Street (second picture; www.andazhotels.com; doubles from $320), with 253 rooms and a restaurant, Wallnut, whose chefs source most ingredients from the Hudson Valley (locavorism still being the virtue du jour here).

Doubtless for some, the novelty of a bona fide Wall Street address, and Andaz’s excellent service cred, will offset the so-far-down-it’s-below-Downtown location; and it’s still an easy cab ride to the newly renovated David H Koch Theater at Lincoln Center (completed to the tune of $107m with a lead gift from philanthropist Koch), where the New York City Ballet (www.nycballet.com) is staging a Balanchine-focused repertoire – featuring Swan Lake, A Midsummer Night’s Dream (first picture) and the Jewels trilogy – until the end of February.
