There’s not much that’s low-impact about the busy southern coast of Bali, but lately it has been throwing off its mass-tourism mantle with some world-class dining options – the locavore deliciousness at Cuca (www.cucaflavor.com), in Jimbaran, is a must – and appealing lifestyle purveyors, particularly in Seminyak, where Magali Pascal (www.magalipascal.com) and Quarzia (www.quarzia.it) are the go-tos for chic resortwear. This month the principal buzz is around Alila Seminyak (www.alilahotels.com; from $265; pictured) – the largest and most ambitious Alila resort to date, clocking in at 239 rooms and on about as prime a beach position as the town offers. Its six pools and 757sq m spa will be complemented by a handful of airy suites with 180-degree views of the ocean and a knockout rooftop penthouse, complete with its own 12m infinity pool.
