On the beach in Goa there is many a hippie shack, but luxury houses are hard to come by. Villa operator SJ Villas has gone off the beaten track, 45 minutes drive north of trendy Ashwem Beach, to find newly built Redi House (www.sjvillas.co.uk; from $1,250), which is set among traditional village houses with a small path leading to deserted sands. The interiors are by designer Alice von Baum, and combine whitewashed walls, traditional wooden furniture and colonial-style daybeds. There’s a car and driver on standby (£50 per day), as well as yoga tuition, a cook, a double kayak and paddle board.
