Calling itself “boutique”, but in reference to jets, is the new 74-seat all-flatbed airline La Compagnie (www.lacompagnie.com). It has flown direct from Paris to New York six days a week since last July, and from April 24 will offer a scheduled service between London (Luton) and New York (Newark), with returns from £1,538. La Compagnie will be hoping its business model has longevity beyond Silverjet’s successes – the luxury transatlantic all-business-class airline launched in January 2007 and folded in May 2008, but it identified an opportunity and left an appetite for more.
