Summer may soon succumb to the chill of autumn, but Teenage Cancer Trust has gathered together 24 enticing weekend getaways that should beat the long-night blues. It’s offering most of the holidays as lots in an online fundraising auction (from £75). From cosy cottages nestled in the Devonshire countryside to a slice of quintessential French chic at Château de la Cazine near Limoges, all money raised will go towards funding the charity’s new £2.5m unit in Bristol’s Haematology and Oncology Centre, with its five en-suite treatment rooms, two consulting rooms and social spaces for inpatients.
One standout lot is a long weekend at Marrakech’s Dar Musique, a stylishly restored four-bedroom riad brimming with traditional Moroccan flourishes and a sleek marble pool, hamman room and resident chef. Harptree Court – home of The Great British Bake Off TV show – also features, with its handcrafted treehouse lodge (pictured) for those with a penchant for glamping. Also up for offer are a day’s sailing on the Dart estuary (champagne luncheon included), a three-bedroom apartment with sea views in San Telim, Majorca, and a handful of 18th-century cottages and Tudor farmhouses for those who’d prefer to eschew winter sun in favour of a quaint British bolthole.
