Juhu in Mumbai, just north of Pali Hill, is a Bollywood beachside redoubt, with killer Arabian Sea views from its waterfront high-rises and smatterings of Italian cafés. (In terms of celeb wattage, think Malibu, but at roughly 100 times the population and construction density.) Appropriately, it’s where the Soho House group (sohohousemumbai.com; from £90) set its sights some years back to make its first foray into Asia. After several delays, the club-hotel-hangout zone is open. The low-rise tower is complete, with a sea-facing gym, massive ground-level outpost of Cecconi’s (seating over 100) and some gorgeous (and welcome) tweaks to the by now familiar formula – Indian antiques and bright block-printed Jaipuri cotton quilts among them. The House Kitchen, dressed in a sigh-worthy shade of blue, turns out kathi rolls and chaat alongside macrobiotic grain bowls.
