Rosewood (rosewoodhotels.com) seems to be quietly executing a world-domination mandate, with recent openings from Luang Prabang to Paris to the Bahamas and about 20 more in the works, including São Paulo, Edinburgh and Costa Rica. But next month is special, marking as it does the brand’s debut in its hometown of Hong Kong. With a mint location – across 27 floors of a towering multi-use building at the water’s edge in Tsim Sha Tsui, offering panoramic views over Hong Kong Island – the 413 Tony Chi-designed rooms and suites at the hotel (from HK$5,280, about £535) are complemented by an impressive eight restaurants, most with outdoor spaces, as well as a sprawling spa and – unusual and appealing in this densest of cities – extensive lawns and gardens overlooking Victoria Harbour.
