Those in search of a glamorous start to 2019 can ring in the New Year at Berkshire’s five-star Cliveden country-house hotel, from December 31 to January 2, where guests are invited to join the “ultimate holiday house party” complemented by fine cuisine and champagne.
The two-night experience (from £2,430 for two in a Club Category room) begins with afternoon tea, which is followed by a champagne and canapé reception before the main event: a black-tie dinner. Guests will take their seats for a feast of organic salmon crème fraîche, leek and Exmoor caviar, followed by poached fillet of brill with leek, mussels and a champagne velouté sauce. Slow-roasted fillet of Lake District beef will be served with pressed potato, foie gras and a savoury truffle jus for the main course, while dessert promises to be a “celebration of chocolate and caramel”.
Guests will toast the New Year with champagne at the stroke of midnight, as a traditional piper warms up the bagpipes to lead revellers in rounds of Auld Lang Syne – before the DJ hits the decks, keeping the festivities going well into the wee hours of 2019.
New Year’s Day will begin with a brunch buffet and an afternoon spent at leisure. Bespoke outdoor activities such as clay pigeon shooting, horse riding and falconry can be arranged by the hotel, or guests can explore the 376-acre gardens and woodlands. The experience continues with champagne canapés, followed by a relaxed “jacket and tie” three-course dinner with wine pairings.
Guests will be served breakfast the next morning before returning home.
