A very-grand-indeed grande dame will reopen its spa and restaurants in December (guest rooms to follow in spring 2019) in London after a meticulous top-to-toe renovation. The roster of talents who’ve contributed to the sleek new Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park (mandarinoriental.com; from £600) range from Adam Tihany (who expanded the spa and wellness centre, which now features crystal steam and colour therapy rooms and a Pilates studio, along with 14 treatment suites), to celebrated Hong Kong designer Joyce Wang (she’s done the high-glam rooms, all sorbet tones with pops of teal, rust and violet), to Jo Hansford (whose excellent haircare products are featured in the bathrooms) and even Heywood Hill (which estimable Mayfair bookseller has curated libraries for each of the suites).
