If summer holidays are top of mind, and the less-trod reaches of Greece on the wishlist, Ileana von Hirsch is the one to call: her Five Star Greece (fivestargreece.com; from about €5,000 a week) has two new full-service properties at near opposite ends of the geographic and cultural spectrum, but equally far from the madding crowds.

On the severely lovely Mani Peninsula in the Peloponnese is a stone manor house with two guest cottages in the olive-stippled hills above the Ionian (price on request); and some 220km to the east, on Folegandros, the Cyclades’ rising star, is a charming whitewashed eyrie set atop a cliff – the only villa with a private pool for rent on the island. As Hirsch herself says, the property may be small, but for Folegandros, it’s big news.
