That history is infinitely more compelling when relayed by those who participated in it is the axiom on which UK-based experience designer Red Savannah (redsavannah.com) has launched its pioneering new cultural itineraries, Eyewitness Programmes. Via a combination of exceptional access to sites and meetings with political leaders, policymakers and witnesses to seminal events, the Red Savannah team aims to bring the drama of historical experience to life. First on the docket: a five-day agenda (£3,948 per person) in Berlin, in the company of ex-intelligence officers and UN security consultants who were instrumental in shaping cold war policy, with private visits to former Nazi bunkers and dinner on Reichstag’s roof.
