Destined for polar waters later in 2017 is Silver Cloud, part of the Silversea fleet (silversea.com; from £9,500 for a 10-day excursion), set to undergo a refurb later this summer to bring her up to ice‑class calibre before her voyage, in February 2018, from Ushuaia down through the Drake Passage. A full 18 Zodiac inflatable craft, each holding a maximum of 14, will offer extensive sea and land tours to admire the penguins, dolphins, whales and rich birdlife the route is known for.
