One buzzed-about renovation this summer is in Beijing, where The Peninsula (peninsula.com; from £390) has undergone a $123m top-to-toe transformation. Room numbers were decreased by more than 50 per cent (making those remaining the largest in town), and there is no end of fine new photo-ready moments in the restaurants and public spaces, thanks to the mostly organic menus and art exhibitions curated by the likes of Michael Suh, who is at the helm of the city’s Museum of Contemporary Art.
