The East End of London keeps moving from hotel strength to strength: next month, it’s the turn of the Soho House and Sydell Group, which has scored a mint Cheapside location for its biggest opening to date. The Ned (www.thened.com; from £250) will channel the cosy-chic ambience (plank floors, tufted headboards, winking hints of chintz and stripe) that cemented the popularity of Dean Street Townhouse and the 11 Club Row rooms at Shoreditch House. But here it’s all writ large: there will be a whopping 252 rooms across seven floors; a total of seven bars and restaurants, including a massive rooftop pool/dining/bar complex, an American diner and the Cecconi’s outpost EC2 has been waiting for; and Ned’s Club, a discrete members’-club offering (sorry, Every House members; you’ll have to reapply for this one).
