Are you ready to “bluice”? If you have the ubiquitous NutriBullet and are in the (excellent) habit of loading it with fruit and greens to blend up a smoothie-load of raw health, you won’t need reminding that, beneficial as it is, the actual drink has the consistency of pond sludge. But you will also know that with a mere juicer, which extracts just the vitamins, minerals and water, you get a drink that’s more palatable, but almost bereft of fibre.
The Sage 3X Bluicer Pro, a rugged and handsome new kitchen gadget from Australia, is a combined juicer/blender. It takes up a lot of kitchen space, but is a clever idea if you’re doing the good thing and regarding five-a-day as a mere baseline. It lets you produce custom-tuned hybrid blended/juiced smoothies that aren’t too heavy and revolting, but have more fibre than juice. There’s an £80 extra called Vac Q that creates a vacuum – resulting in creamier smoothies. Nice.
