The mouse is the most boring-but-important accessory in tech. But even if you work on a laptop, unless you’re extraordinarily resistant to RSI, the built-in trackpad, with its fiddly movements, will simply not suffice for a heavy day’s work.
Cue the latest version of what is, in my opinion, the world’s best mouse, Logitech’s MX Master 2S. I cannot tell you how effective this little (well, all right, rather large) “rodent” is now. It was a heck of a pointing device when I featured its predecessor on Technopolis TV in May 2015, but I do think it’s now achieved peak mouse-ness, with better responsiveness (no measurable latency at all) and better battery life (Logitech says 70 days). While the Master 2S is customisable, the chances are you’ll never change it from the settings it comes with. But it’s the comfort and manoeuvrability that are the chief joys. It works on any surface, even glass, and you can use one mouse to work on three different devices if you work at a proper Mission Control-type setup. My only plea: time to make a version for left-handers.
