Braces from Dunhill, Caruso and Budd

From alligator leather to jaunty motifs

Traditional button-on braces currently have some high-profile champions, not least Dunhillcreative director John Ray. He believes trousers should hang from the shoulders rather than the waist for a cleaner line, and features braces throughout his collections, in coloured baratheas (£125, pictured left) or with alligator detailing (£735). The trend for higher-waisted, pleated trousers also lends itself to button braces: Caruso has a stylish set (£300), while Budd sell pairs with jaunty motifs (£175), in plain colours (£30) and for evening (£150).
