A backless dress waistcoat in silk moiré (£165) that has been unavailable for 30 years is part of shirtmaker Budd’s new grand plans. This classic piece of finery, a house style from 1910, works with black tie or less formal special-occasion wear. Budd’s owner Stephen Murphy intends to make or source more standout items of this quality by investing heavily in the firm’s Andover workshop and doubling the workforce.
