Inis Meáin’s delightfully storied knitwear

Designs include a super-plush, long-sleeve knit that has the look of chainmail

Tarlach de Blácam and family at Inis Meáin always have such delightful stories around the brand’s knitwear. Deora Aille is a gorgeous mottled knitted-linen pattern and translates as “cliff tears”, referencing the Gaelic term for fresh water running from the cliffs into the sea. Its super-plush long-sleeve knits (€238, pictured left) and short-sleeve tunics (€230) evoke a soft linen chainmail. I also like the cardigan/jacket crossover (€390) from the Aran Man two-piece linen/cotton suit, which uses a technique that knits contrasting coloured yarns to create two-sided knitwear.
