I’ve been taking my clients to P Johnson’s Rathbone Place showroom for around a year now. I particularly like the house cut, which errs towards longer coat styles, higher waistbands, fuller trousers and an emphasis on light cloths and wearability (which, as the team hails from Australia, is a forte). P Johnson is not a bespoke tailor, but rather su misura, or custom, and works with its own dedicated atelier in Tuscany, called Sartoria Carrara.
It has a selection of standard-size pieces it adapts to fit, inputting the changes into a house app to create a unique digital pattern. Commissions are ready in six to eight weeks; for many of my clients, no final adjustments are required, and they leave thrilled. (Trousers, from £265; suits, from £1,100; jackets, from £875.)
