At a time when luxury style seems to be turning to anti-tailoring, I was impressed by Cifonelli’s new ready-to-wear line from creative director John Vizzone, with its air of a contemporary aristocrat’s wardrobe. The house’s clipped silhouette plays out in Chesterfield camel cashmere coats (€3,400) with fly front and chocolate-brown top collar, and double-breasted greatcoats (€4,000) with mink, teamed with camel cashmere turtlenecks (€600) and fedoras (€450). A dapper three-piece suit (€3,400) in windowpane-check, and a suave check sports coat (€2,550), have the house’s signature boldness. And a peacoat (€3,400) with brass heraldic buttons, and a cashmere and calfskin blouson (€5,250), have been given military accents with cavalry twill trousers (€500) and Chelsea boots (€520), which works across the whole collection — even with audacious tiger-print sateen cocktail jackets (€2,800).
