Katharine Hamnett menswear is back in town

Silk “parachute” shirts and jogging pants, slouchy parkas and smart bombers feature in the design queen’s new 15-piece collection

As a massive fan of Katharine Hamnett’s chic utilitarian style in the 1980s, I was thrilled to learn of the relaunch of Katharine Hamnett London. The 15-piece online collection includes silk “parachute” shirts (from £275) and updated padded silk joggers (£385) in khaki or black – very much in the same vein as those Hamnett silks worn by Mick Jagger in the video of Dancing In The Street, recorded with David Bowie. Other classics include drill peg tapered trousers (£240), a bomber jacket (£420) in recycled polyester and an oversized drill parka (£585) made with organic cotton. “Everything is made as ethically and as environmentally conscious as possible, while preserving traditional skills.” All thoroughly laudable, Katharine – but I’ve loved your stuff from the start because it looked so cool.
