David Hockney-inspired menswear

Breton tops, Bulldog shorts and towelling cotton tops are among the highlights of Orlebar Brown’s new collection

The work, and the personal dress code, of artist David Hockney have inspired Orlebar Brown to some smashing and wearable heights of colour-and-stripe design. The long-sleeve cotton Breton tops (£125) in off-white and bright blue have no stripes across the shoulders and back, giving them a clean, smart look; and a loop-back marl stripe hoodie (£165) that opens with buttons is perfect for post-swim relaxation.

My personal favourites are the “found stripe” Bulldog shorts (£175) in faded raspberry and navy, which are reminiscent of vintage deckchairs, and the red-and-white stripe towelling cotton Terry button-less collar tops (£125), which look chic teamed with a blazer and big round Hockney-style bins.
