Sustainable yak-wool knitwear brand Tengri launched its Warrior Collection last year, featuring a Schynbald rollneck jumper (£700) and a 100 per cent natural undyed Insignia coat (£1,050, pictured) inspired by the ancient soldiers of the Mongolian steppe. Now the label has equipped Savile Row tailor Huntsman with a limited edition supply of fabric, enabling the discerning gent to commission a bespoke coat (from £11,000) from yak fibre ethically sourced in Mongolia, spun in Yorkshire and designed and made in London.

The idea for Tengri was born in 2013 when founder Nancy Johnston lived with nomads in Mongolia’s remote Khangai region. Offering yak herders premium prices for the hand-combed wool, the brand provides an alternative to intensive and inimical over-grazing of cashmere goats, and supports 4,500 families by donating profits back to the community.
