James Long’s first collection for Iceberg

Cool bomber jackets and futuristic knits mark his arrival at the Italian house

James Long, known for his clever patterned knitwear and inventive work with leather, has taken the position of creative director of menswear at Italian house Iceberg. The label is famed for its graphic knitwear, often interpreting Disney characters, and devotees who know their Iceberg history should feel that Long’s first foray has hit the mark; his freehand brushstroke style is an ode to original Iceberg designer Jean‑Charles de Castelbajac. My favourite pieces are the futuristic chevron-stripe intarsia knits (€430) and matching navy nylon/intarsia reversible bomber (€650). Look out, too, for a white retro jersey track top with multistripe trim (€750) and a 1970s-feel shearling-collar jacket (€570) with graduated tonal panels and military patch zip pockets.
