Lans’ soothing Med Sleep Tea

A soporific infusion from bucolic Bavaria

I’ve had insomnia for years and my go-to for a good night’s rest is Lans Med Sleep Tea (€10.40 per 100g, first picture), a combination of St John’s Wort, lemon balm and lavender recommended by design-led medi-spa Lanserhof Tegernsee, nestled in the mountains above Germany’s Lake Tegernsee. A cup of this lightly steeped, relaxing infusion transports me from the canyons of midtown Manhattan to bucolic Bavarian valleys, with soothing, sleep-inducing – as well as anti-anxiety – effects.

I learnt of this sleek health resort while I was living in London and a friend extolled the virtues of the Lans Med Concept, which fuses traditional naturopathy with state-of-the-art medicine to heal both the mind and body. Today, some 4,000 miles from the picturesque spa, my days begin and end with various Lans products, courtesy of the Lanserhof e-shop. There are speciality teas (all €10.40 per 100g) for calming, detoxing, purifying, firming, immune-system-boosting and digestion-aiding, as well as gender-specific teas; the Men’s Tea supports the prostate, while the women’s version counters menopausal symptoms including hot flushes.

I’m also a fan of Lans Derma’s sensitive skincare range, which is simple and not overly fragranced or fussy. I use the silky Lans Derma Cleansing Emulsion (€52for 100ml, second picture) – a certified organic, sunflower oil-infused wash – both morning and night, followed by theMoistening Intensive Mask (€95 for 100ml), which contains wheat-germ oil, arginine and vitamin E.
